Passing the GED is Easy

Many people on the Internet are searching for the phrase Passing the Ged is  Easy.

If you think passing the GED is easy, you’re probably a very bright person who also took the GED test.  Is it an easy test?

Can you sit still and take a test for 7 hours?

When was the last time you sat in a building and took a test for 7 hours with a lunch break?  That’s what the GED test involves.  Six tests totalling 420 minutes.

  1. Language Arts, Part I – This is a 75 minute test comprised of sentence structure and grammar usage.  There are 50 questions.
  2. Language Arts, Part II – This is a 45 minute essay test.  It’s all about writing cogently and meaningfully.  If you finished the Part I test early you can begin Part II early.
  3. Social Studies – This is a 70 minute test of 50 questions on history, government, economics, and geography.
  4. Science – This is a 75 minute test covering 45 multiple choice questions.
  5. Language Arts:  Reading – 65 minutes and 45 questions.  See below.  You read 7 different passages and then answer questions regarding what you’ve read.
  6. Math – 90 minutes and 50 questions.  The first 45 minutes you are given a standard calculator for problem solving.  The last 45 minutes you have no calculator.

When is the last time you sat for 7 hours and answered question upon question.

OK, it’s long.  But is it easy to answer those GED questions?

Maybe, but doubtful.

Why did you drop out of high school?  Was it because the courses were too easy?  In 1st grade, my best friend was placed into a remedial or slower class because he didn’t say much.  That’s because he was bored.  He later became a psychologist.

Do you really want to find out if the GED questions are easy?

If you read the Internet and study why people have trouble with the GED test, the answer is the math test.  They have trouble with math.  If you really want to test your math skills read this:

GED Mathematics (Steck-Vaughn Ged Series) has 11 reviews on Amazon, and everyone valued it with 5 stars.  A teacher of 20 years experience called this book “the best GED math text book on the market right now.”  It’s just one example of a terrific GED practice book that you can use prior to taking the GED test.

The GED test is getting tougher

The GED test hasn’t changed since the 1940′s when it was designed for U.S. servicemen in the Armed Forces.  But the GED test is getting tougher and the tougher GED test is being tested in New York City.  The White House, the business community, and the educational community are slowly gearing up for making the GED test tougher and more valuable to the people who pass that test.  Pass the GED test now  while it’s unchanged, the future GED test will be harder to pass.

Is the GED easy?

If passing the GED test were easy I wouldn’t be writing this article.  No, the GED test isn’t as difficult as 4 years  of high school.  But the GED test is easy only for those who have fully prepared for a 7 hour, all day test covering a wide range of topics.

  1. Not sure when this was written but the test was updated in 2002.

  2. Johnny,

I have looked and cannot find any reference to the GED test being updated in 2002. Do you have a website reference to confirm that fact?
What I do know is that the GED is currently being made tougher in a NYC project. Rollout of the harder GED is expected in 2012.
