But other people choose to go through online high schools to earn a high school degree. Buyer beware.
Any site claiming to offer a high school degree should have a lengthy discussion on whether or not they are accredited.
One online high school website had a long flowery discussion about the importance of accreditation, only to say in the 10th paragraph that they were not accredited to “keep their costs down”.
If you are serious about an online high school degree, call a local college first. Telephone a college in your area to ask an admissions counselor if their college would accept an applicant with an online high school degree. It doesn’t cost anything to ask a question from a local admissions counselor.
Before you ever pay any money at all to an online high school degree program, ask for a written or emailed statement about their accreditation. And then check those credentials at a local college.
Reputable organizations offering online high school degrees won’t mind knowledgeable students asking important questions about accreditation.
