3900 Houston Dropouts per Month search the Internet for Help
I was a bit shocked when I learned from Google that 3900 people a month search Google for the phrase “Houston GED”. That’s why, after writing about the NYC GED, the Chicago GED, and the Los Angeles GED, I turned my attention to writing something about getting a GED in Houston. I do hope this article helps you.
First Step, Visit the State of Texas Official GED Site for Information
If you have any question about taking the GED test in the state of Texas, visiting Texas’s official website at Texas State GED is essential. So far, I have studied the New York and California state websites regarding GED information. The easiest website to date has been the New York State GED web page.
Official Texas GED Test centers took a while to find on the Internet, click herefor more information. It’s unclear how current the Texas GED test center page is because there’s no last update stamp on it, but it’s a seemingly long list of possible test centers.
At this time I can’t easily find a list of GED preparation centers in Texas.
Finding GED testing centers and GED classes in Houston
I would offer three basic methods for finding GED help in Houston, Texas.
- Use the State of Texas website, find testing centers in Houston, and call them for more information.
- Research Houston GED using the Google search engine (then Yahoo, then Bing).
- Visit your local community college in Houston, TX.
Use the State of Texas website
Just visit the Official Texas GED Test centers web page to find official GED test centers in Texas. Why are they official? They applied for permission to the State of Texas to offer a GED test. The State of Texas lists approximately half a dozen GED test centers in Houston. One is a high school, several are junior colleges, and several are universities such as the University of Houston. Visit the Official Texas GED Test centers web page, look for the city of Houston, and phone/email the contacts who manage those GED test centers.
Research Houston GED using Google
Be careful if using Google to find Houston GED information. The very first selection I found today was a for profit organization offering GED services.
What Google does offer if you search for “Houston GED” are some search results that have .edu in their website name. Years ago this meant these Internet search results were hosted by non-profit educational organizations. If you research Google for Houston GED information, I would select the .edu sites first.
Visit your local community college
If you’re not interested in doing much research, just contact a local community college in Houston, Texas. Just make sure the institution you contact is a public, not a private college. Contacting the Houston Community College in Houston, Texas would be a good idea. They have several campuses in the Houston area.
Texas GED Test in Spanish
The State of Texas website did indicate that you can take the GED test in Texas in English, Spanish, or French. But immediate help for studying for the GED in the Houston area in Spanish was not easily available.
