GED Calculator

GED Calculator

When you take the GED test at an official testing center, you will be given a GED calculator for part of the math test.  The GED calculator is actually a Casio Scientific Solar Calculator – FX-260.  So it makes sense to purchase that type of calculator and practice with it long before you take the GED test.

The math part of the GED test is actually 90 minutes long.  For half of that time period, you will be allowed to use the Casio Scientific Solar Calculator – FX-260 calculator.

The GED calculator is easy to use, isn’t it?

Not all calculators are the same.  This particular calculator may have more keys and buttons then you are used to seeing.  You certainly won’t need all the functions of this calculator to work on the math part of the GED test.

But trying to use the GED calculator for the first time may cost you precious minutes.  Why waste time learning the calculator during the GED test when you can purchase the Casio Scientific Solar Calculator – FX-260 beforehand and learn how to use it?  It’s fairly inexpensive and improves your chances of doing well on the GED math test.

This is what the Casio Scientific Solar Calculator – FX-260 looks like:

Highly Recommended GED Math Practice Books

Purchasing the same calculator you will use during the GED math test is a great first step.  Use it to add up  the grocery list.  Use it to do your monthly expenses and bills.

But better still, use the  Casio Scientific Solar Calculator – FX-260 to study a GED math practice book.  Here are some of my favorite GED math practice books.

  1. McGraw-Hill’s GED Mathematics Workbook- This is an excellent place to start brushing up for GED math problems.  The book is affordable, whether you purchase  it new or used:  McGraw-Hill’s GED Mathematics Workbook.
  2. Top 50 Math Skills for GED Success – Again, this is another fine book from McGraw-Hill.  You might be strong in one area of GED math but weak in other areas.  Top 50 Math Skills for GED Success will improve your GED math weaknesses.
  3. McGraw-Hill’s GED Books and CDs. You may remember the name McGraw-Hill, it’s a publisher of many high school textbooks.  You probably read some of their books in high school.  They have a GED book and study CD for almost any aspect of the GED:  McGraw-Hill’s GED Books and CDs.
  4. The GED for Dummies, 2nd Edition book – There’s a reason the Dummies series of books have flourished for years:  they work.  If you have questions about not only GED math but also different parts of the GED test, the The GED for Dummies, 2nd Edition book book by Murray Shukyn and Dale E. Shuttleworth would be an excellent start.
